About

Hello and welcome to So Many Crafts, So Little Time! My name is Clare and I live in the beautiful city of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. I love making things, whether it’s cards and envelopes, clothes, cakes or something for my house. I started making stationery many years ago and my love of crafting has grown from there – now I’ll try making pretty much anything, and I’m always keen to learn something new. I have recently got married (yay!) and made a lot of things for the big day myself – look out for the wedding-related post category.

I’m a musician by trade and was a music teacher for a few years, but now I work with international students teaching English. But I also teach them the ukulele, so I haven’t forgotten my musical roots completely! This year I’ve set up a crafty business called Less Grafting More Crafting with my partner-in-craft, Daria, and would ideally love to craft for a living – we’re working hard to get there!

There is always lots of tea-drinking going on here, whether I’m crafting, gardening, cooking…I do hope you like my blog, and would love to hear your comments. Enjoy! 🙂

  1. OH my, you are a creative soul! What a cute pic out there in the green oasis. I came by way of Teddie and Tottie this morning 😀 I think it’d be fabulous to be a musician, I’m a big fan of Singer/song writers like Lisa Hannigan, Jack Jackson, Camera Obscura, Ed Sheeran, Tina Dico and so many more.

    • Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such lovely comments 🙂 I really should update my about page – so much has changed! I used to be a music teacher but I don’t get to do as much music stuff in my job now. I did set up a ukulele group though (intoukes.wordpress.com) I like your musical style – not heard any Camera Obscura so I’ll have to have a listen!

      • Hi Clare, Ukulele group! Sign me up..LOL I have a guitar I’ve been promising to pick up again. I took folk guitar lessons years ago and played for a number of years, then 5 years ago I broke a string and set it aside…..isn’t that silly? I’ll surf over to In To Ukes 😀 Here’s a post I did on my Music Monday for Camera Obscura if you were curious

        Music Monday – Week 3

      • Hey Kelly! You’re right about Camera Obscura – so catchy! 🙂 Looking forward to reading more of your Music Monday posts! Don’t worry about the guitar – I can’t get along with it at all. Ukulele is so much easier, but my guitar (which lives in the corner of our living room) always seems to be looking at me as if to say ‘are you ever going to try again?!’ Maybe one day…until then, I’ll strum on the uke!

    • Hello Julie! That’s amazing – thank you so much! 🙂 I’ll have to check out your post – I’m guessing that your wonderful blog was also nominated?! Hope you have a great weekend, and thank you again!xxx

  2. Hi Clare
Stumbled across your blog while looking for crafty people in Newcastle (just moved here). Your blog is lovely, feeling inspired now to get my crafting stuff back out of the moving boxes.

    • Hello! Thank you so much – that’s made my day! 🙂 I hope that your move up here went well and that you’re settling in (the weather is much nicer today, which always helps!). I’m sure you’ll love it here – I moved up for uni, which was 9 years ago now, and still love it just as much as when I first got here! If there’s anything I can do to help just let me know. I’ve just followed your blog and really looking forward to reading your posts! Clare 🙂

      • Hi Clare, thanks! Move went well and definitely enjoying the weather today more than yesterday! I love Newcastle so far, my husband is originally from Gateshead and has family around here so we know the area a little bit. Trying to find things to do to meet people now!
